MRS. O’CONNOR’S 3RD GRADE CLASS
z Ask A 3rd Grader In Our Class About... z
“King Spencer” has a
passion for drumming!
Check out those sticks!
In Reading and Writing Workshop we spent some time
reviewing concepts that we have covered throughout the
year. During “Read Aloud” time we practiced making
inferences and predictions using the text The Summer
According to Humphrey. Tell someone at home the main
ideas of this book! We also began our final technology
project of the school year....creating an electronic scrapbook
which features many events that have happened
throughout our lives as 3rd Graders! What have you
included so far in your book?
In Math we talked about tools and units that perimeter
can be measured in. These included: inches, feet, meters,
centimeters, kilometers, yards and miles. We also discussed
the standard unit for measuring area (1 square unit.) Next
week we will be focusing on measurement as it pertains to
time, volume and mass.
Spencer demonstrated
some impressive problem
solving strategies
this week in math!

In word study we reviewed the concept of synonyms and
using a tool called a thesaurus to help us use descriptive
words in our writing. We also spent some time learning
about homonyms and homophones. Show someone at home
the homonym jokes we viewed on YouTube!
