andcollegecourseworkatthesametime.CollegeCreditPlusreplacesOhio’sPost-Secondary
EnrollmentOptionsprogram(PSEO)andalldualenrollmentprograms.TheOhioDepartmentofHigher

AsdefinedinOhioHouseBill487:
• Anystudentingrades7-12iseligibletoparticipateinCollegeCreditPlus.
o Studentsmustbeacademicallyreadyforcollegelevelcourseworkandwillingtoadhere
toboththedemandsofcollegeandhighschoolsimultaneously.
• Allpublicsecondaryschoolsandallpubliccollegesmustprovideanopportunityfor
academicallyeligiblestudentsingrades7-12totakecollegecoursework.
o Themajorityoftheseclasseswillbeofferedonthecampusesoftheseuniversities.
DublinCitySchoolshaspartneredspecificallywithColumbusStateCommunityCollege(CSCC),The
OhioStateUniversity(OSU),andKenyonCollegetoofferclassesatDublinCoffmanHighSchool,Dublin
JeromeHighSchool,andDublinSciotoHighSchool.Weanticipatethefollowingclassestobeoffered
duringthe2016-17academicyear:

• IntroductiontoPsychology(CSCC)
• CollegeCompositionII(CSCC)
• APStatistics(Kenyon)
ThefollowingcoursesareembeddedwithintheITAcademy.IfastudentisadmittedintotheIT
Academy,he/shewilltakeandearncollegecreditforthefollowingcoursesuponsuccessful
completionoftheacademy:
• InformationTechnology(CSCC)
• Programming(CSCC)
• SystemAnalyst(CSCC)
• DatabaseManagement(CSCC)
• WebDesign(CSCC)
• 21stCenturySkills(CSCC)
Theavailabilityofthesecourses,andatwhichhighschoolstheyareoffered,isdependentupon
enrollment,theavailabilityofinstructors,andasthecasewiththeITAcademy,admissionintothe
program.Studentscanexploretheoptionoftravelingtothehighschoolinwhichthecourseisbeing
offeredifnotavailableattheirhomeschool;however,pleasenotethatenrollmentintheseclassesis
giventothehomehighschoolstudentsfirst.Studentsalwayshavetheoptionofenrollingintheabove
coursesandmanyothersiftheyarewillingtotraveltotheactualcollegecampus.
Grading
PerOhioHouseBill487,CollegeCreditPluscoursesmustreceivetheequivalentweightasany
weightedcoursewithinagivencontentarea.Forexample,CollegeCompositionIwillbeweightedas
5.0.Astudent’slettergradeearnedthroughauniversitywillbeissuedonhis/herDublinCitySchool’s
transcript.TheDublinCitySchoolweightforthatlettergradewillbefactoredintothestudent’sGPA.

CreditandGraduationRequirements
CollegeCreditsareconvertedtohighschoolcreditsinthefollowingmanner:
• 5semestercredits=1.0highschoolCarnegiecredit
• 4semestercredits=1.0highschoolCarnegiecredit
• 3semestercredits=1.0highschoolCarnegiecredit
TransferringCollegeCredits
• CreditsearnedthroughCollegeCreditPlusaretransferabletomanypublicandprivate
institutionsinOhioandoutofthestate.
o Studentswhowanttotransfertoanotheruniversitywillneedtosendtheirtranscript
fromtheInstitutionofHigherLearning(IHL)totheuniversitytheyplantoattend.
o Manyofthesecoursesapplytowardthegeneraleducationrequirementoraselectives
atthatschool.

FinancialandTransportationObligations
Alltuition,coursefees,andcostoftextbookswillbepaidforbytheDublinCitySchoolDistrictperOhio
HouseBill487.
DublinCitySchoolsisnotresponsibleforprovidingtransportationtocollegecampusesforstudents
whoplanontakingtheirCollegeCreditPluscoursesatthecollegeoruniversity.
HighSchoolandCollegeCounselingServices
TheDublinCitySchoolDistrictwillhostahighschoolcounselingmeetingonJanuary21,2016atScioto
HighSchooltoshareinformationwithparentsregardingtheCollegeCreditPlusProgramandthe
processthatwillneedtobefollowedtoenrollincollegecourses.
AdditionalinformationregardinghowtheCollegeCreditPlusProgramworksatourpartnercolleges

EnrollmentandScheduling
StudentsinterestedinparticipatingintheCollegeCreditPlusProgrammustcompletethefollowing:
• CompletetheLetterofIntenttoParticipateinCollegeCreditPlus(Form2271F1)andreturnto
theirschoolcounselorbeforeApril1,2016.
• Applytotheuniversityinwhichtheywanttotakecourses.

o Forexample,Bandisofferedduring5thperiodatallthreehighschools.Ifastudentis
interestedintakingacollegecourseofferedonauniversitycampusatthissametime,
he/shewillneedtomakeadecisionastowhichcoursetotake.
o StudentsinterestedinCollegeCreditPluswillneedtoregisterforafullcourseload
whileregisteringfortheir2016-17classes.
§ Aspartofthatregistrationprocess,studentsshouldrequestan8thperiodclass
titled“CollegeCreditPlus”.
§ Ifacceptedintoauniversity,studentswillthenmeetwiththeirschoolcounselors
tomaketheappropriatescheduleadjustments.
• CompletetheCollegeCreditPlusContract(Form2271F1a)andreturnittotheirschool
counselorbyAugust15,2016forFallSemesterandbyDecember15,2016forSpringSemester.
AcademicandSocialResponsibilitiesofStudents
CollegeCreditPlusstudentswillhavethefollowingacademicandsocialrightsandresponsibilities:
o Studentsmustbeacademicallyreadyforcollegelevelcourseworkandwillingtoadheretoboth
thedemandsofcollegeandhighschoolsimultaneously.
o Studentswillneedtoworkcloselywiththeirschoolcounselorwhendecidingwhichclassesto
enrollinandhowthetimingofthoseclassesimpactthestudent’sschoolday.
o Studentswillbeexpectedtofollowtherulesandregulationssetbythecollege/university.
o Studentswillalsobeexpectedtofollowtherulesandregulationssetforhighschool
studentsdetailedinthestudenthandbook.
o Studentsareeligibletoreceiveadvisingfromcampus-basedsupportservicesofthatinstitution.
o Studentswillcontinuetohaveaccesstotheirhighschoolcounselorandallother
resourcesavailabletohighschoolstudents.
o ParticipationinCollegeCreditPlusdoesnotguaranteeyouadmissiontocollegeafterhigh
school.
o Studentsshouldfollowtheregularundergraduateapplicationprocessforwhatever
collegetheyplantoattendafterhighschool.

• FERPA(FamilyEducationalRightsandPrivacyACT)
o AnystudentacceptedintotheCollegeCreditPlusProgramisconsideredanofficial
collegestudentbytheinstitutionofhigherlearningandissubjecttothefederalFERPA.
§ Thismeansthatcollegerecords(i.e.–gradereports,disciplinaryactions,
attendancereports,etc.)arenotreleasedtoanyone,evenparents,without
writtenpermissionfromthestudent.
§ StudentscansignaConsentFormthatwouldallowaparenttohavegreater
accesstoinformationfromthecollege,however,professorswillnotexchange
emailsorphonecallswithparentsofCollegeCreditPlusstudents.
o ForCollegeCreditPlusstudents,thehighschoolandthecollegemayexchange
information.
