Salary:
The starting salary is between $45,990 and $75,884 per year,
based on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay
schedule/range is 07-03. Due to the project nature of this
position, it is not represented by a bargaining unit.

The Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Public Health (DPH); Bureau of
Community Health Promotion in Madison.
This is a project position funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009 (ARRA) for a maximum period of two (2) years. This is not a permanent
position.
Job Duties:
This project position is responsible for developing and implementing
recommendations to support environmental and policy change related to obesity
prevention in the early childhood setting. This position implements and evaluates
wellness and physical activity strategies as part of the Communities Putting Prevention
to Work (CPPW) Physical Activity grant; works directly on project issues with other
CPPW staff; the Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Program (NPAO) staff; the
Department of Children and Families (DCF); the Supporting Families Together
Association (SFTA), the Childcare Resource and Referral Networks (CRRN), the
Wisconsin Council on Children and Families, the Wisconsin Early Learning Coalition,
and other key early childhood organizations to implement strategies that are described
in the grant. This position collaborates with other key internal and external early
childhood education and care stakeholders; serves as the main outreach person for
statewide consultation, technical assistance, and policy development regarding
wellness and physical activity-related policies that can be implemented in the early
childhood setting; and evaluates early childhood providers (group centers and family
providers) during the grant project period and is the primary liaison to the 20 funded,
regulated childcare sites (group centers and family providers) to implement policy
strategies to ensure at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
Special Notes:
Wisconsin residency is required for this project position, possession of a Wisconsin Driver’s
License and the ability to travel and stay overnight.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of public health physical activity
and exercise physiology; early childhood education and care system structure; current
scientific research-based physical activity and obesity prevention concepts, theories,
principles, and practices; strategic and operational health planning, program
implementation and evaluation, and data management; federal, state and local
legislation related to public health and physical activity promotion, and the early
childhood setting; skill in working with multidisciplinary teams; providing technical
assistance to a variety of state and community decision-makers; liaison/facilitator or
consultation with a variety of professionals internally and externally to the organization
regarding policy or program issues; ability to present ideas and information orally and
in writing, in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner; and provide leadership and
guide activities of individuals and groups.
Master's degree in public health, community development, or health and
community policy preferred.
