Purpose of Scholarship
The Dr. Patricia McCutchan-Richard Vernier Endowed Scholarship Fund will financially assist students pursuing a Bachelor of
Arts in Individualized Studies degree with a concentration in the Natural Sciences or students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or
Science degree with a Biology major. The number and amount of scholarships will vary based on funds available.
Eligibility Criteria
 Degree seeking BAIS with concentration in Natural Sciences – or – Biology majors pursuing a Pre-Med or Pre-Vet
course of study
 Minimum GPA of 3.0
 Demonstrate, through written submission, respect for animals and nature (see details below)
 Must have fully completed the 2016-17 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process at Lourdes.
How to apply (Incomplete/Late applications will not be considered)
Complete and return this application and attach a typed essay of no more than 500 words which provides demonstration of
your respect for animals and nature and your appreciation for the relationship of all living things. Essays will be judged on
grammar, spelling, presentation, as well as, appropriate content.
Notification
Recipient(s) of the scholarship are notified via her/his Lourdes Email through the Financial Aid Award Letter process which is
based on the completion of the 2016-17 FAFSA process at Lourdes. Therefore, notification can vary depending on the date of
the recipient’s completion of this process.
Responsibility of Recipient(s)
Recipient will receive a Financial Aid Award Letter and a request to complete the “Thank You Letter” process. The “Thank You
Letter” should be well written and addressed to “To Whom it May Concern.” Be sure to mention the name of the scholarship
within the body of the letter. The letter must be received at the Financial Aid Office before the award can be paid.
