Short Biography: Andreas Lutz Wierschen
Andreas was born in 1989 in Southern California. He graduated from The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011, with a B.S. in Chemistry. During the summer of
2009, he worked in Dr. Theodor Agapie’s lab at Caltech on transition metal catalysts for
the polymerization of polar olefins. Andreas took a nuclear chemistry summer school
class at Brookhaven National Lab during the summer of 2010. During the Spring and Fall
of 2010, he worked in Dr. Wenbin Lin’s lab at UNC-CH on the synthesis of thermally
stable metal organic frameworks.
Andreas began working with Quaker Chemical in November of 2011. He works under
Bob Evans in the Global Metalworking Research Group located in Conshohocken, PA.
The primary goal of the group is to progress metalworking fluid technology and to better
understand the effect that various chemical additives have in increasing the machinability
of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
In his free time, Andreas enjoys reading, photography, cooking, and sports.
