PROCEDURES FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MINIGRANTS (ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-2016):
L&S has received a combined allocation to be used for minigrants and intra-college software grants. If funding is reduced
due to budget cuts for FY15, allocations may be reduced. We would then be able to spend up to the reduced allocation.
Proposals are due in this office by 30 October 2015. EACH REQUEST IS LIMITED TO A $3000.00 MAXIMUM.
The proposals should be kept brief: What do you want to do? What is required to do it? Why is it worthwhile? Please
address your goals, a procedure for implementation, and the potential value to your department. Include a proposed
budget that lists specific items and prices. If you need licensing or purchase information, you may check with Tracy
Raatz. For Macintosh support check with Brian Kelly. YOU MUST CONSULT WITH AL BOND, L&S TECH
SUPPORT, BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL.
The Dean’s Office will not ask for clarification of, or additions to, elements of your proposal after it has been submitted. If
you have questions on content, which grant competition for a certain idea, or general logistical questions about the way to
write the proposal, these questions should be directed to the Dean’s Office BEFORE submittal. Addenda or clarifications
WILL NOT be solicited by the Dean’s Office AFTER the proposal is submitted, and the proposal as submitted will be
considered whole and ready for the competition. For this reason, pay very strict attention to the format, logistics and
intent of each of the internal L&S grant proposal competitions as expanded upon within the L&S website and other media.
All grants must be signed by your department chair, who is being asked to rank them on the basis of their potential value
to the department. The associate and assistant deans and our college support staff will assist the dean in reviewing the
proposals. Our review will include making sure that money is not spent buying duplicates of items already available.

These grants are typically for individuals, but departmental requests may also be considered.
Any proposal that addresses the use of technology (i.e., computers) and involves hardware or software is
acceptable. *Funding for faculty participation in a technology related teaching or learning situation must be
matched by the department. Such requests will be given a lower priority than requests for
software/hardware.
No salary payments to faculty, staff, or students will be granted from this fund.
Because funds for new computer purchases (including laptops & desktops) are available from other sources,
requests for new computers will not be funded. However, some computing devices, such as data loggers
and mobile devices, will be considered if they are used for curricular purposes and not purchased for
personal use.
Grantees must file a report with the L&S dean’s office within one year of receipt of funding.
