This sabbatical resulted in the publication of a book: Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Detective
Fiction: Essays on the Genero Negro Tradition. (McFarland & Co., Inc. Publishers, 2006). In
addition, I began research for another volume, Crime Scene Spain: Investigations of Place in
Contemporary Spanish Crime Fiction which was published in 2009.
