Sorority donates books to promote literacy
The members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. donated books to the Evelyn
Davis Child Care Center Thursday in Des Moines as part of a statewide service
project to promote early literacy. The center operates on a fee-for-service basis
from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays for children 3 months to 5 years old. Delta
Sigma Theta is a nonprofit, public service sorority. In Iowa, there are more than
500 members in five alumnae chapters in Ames, Davenport-Moline (Ill.), Des
Moines, Iowa City and Waterloo, and collegiate chapters at the University of
Iowa, Drake University, Iowa State University and the University of Northern
Iowa.
