1) Multiply each score (as if it were out of 100) by its percentage. 68 x .12 = 8.16 72 x .12 = 8.64 80 x .12 = 9.6 *(The grade you have is most likely out of 10, so multiply by 10 to figure what it would have been out of 100.) 90 x .10 = 9 2) Add all numbers from #1. This is how many points you currently have. 8.16 + 8.64 + 9.6 + 9 = 35.4 3) Decide what grade you want to make overall and what percent that is. If I would like to make a B in the course, I need 80% or 80 points in all. 4) Subtract the points in #2 from the points in #3. This gives the number of points you still need to make that grade. 80 – 35.4 = 44.6 I need about 45 more points to earn a B in the course. 5) Figure out how many points are still left to earn. Test 3 and Test 4 both 12 points and the exam is 30 points. 12 + 12 + 30 = 54 54 points are still left to earn. 6) Divide the number of points you need (#4) by the number of points still left to earn (#5). 45 / 54 = .8383 I need an average of about 84 on what is left to pull a B in the course. **This is assuming that my quiz and homework averages remain the same.**
