Program Guidelines & Application
Introduction
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology International Buddy Program provides a cultural
exchange opportunity to enhance a globally aware campus. The program is designed to:
 Encourage the interaction of Rose students with students from different cultures
 Provide peer support for incoming international students.
General Benefits
The Rose-Hulman International Buddy Program will give current Rose students a chance to
expand their perspective on the world. The program includes many great benefits, including:
 Connecting with new people and learn about different cultures and countries.
 Deepening your confidence in your cross-cultural communication skills.
 Positioning you to pursue international work opportunities
 Creating life-long global connections and relationships
 Sharpening your leadership skills
 Building your resume
Eligibility
To be eligible to become a Buddy to an incoming international student, an applicant must:
 Be a Year 2 student or higher
 Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
 Be in good standing
All Incoming International Students are eligible
Requirements
Students who become a Buddy are expected to:
 Email your Buddy before their arrival (at least 2 weeks)
 Attend the Welcome Event (Monday, March 24th, 2014)
 Meet with your Buddy at least once a week
 Provide support for your Buddy in their new environment
 Be open minded, share your cultural background with them and be open to learning about
theirs.

Buddies Announced: You will be contacted directly when you are paired
