the purpose and scope of a Center for the Humanities at
Texas Tech University. I would welcome and appreciate your
service on this committee. The first meeting of the committee
will be scheduled before mid-September, where I will present
the committee’s charge and discuss initial ideas and
procedures with you. You may anticipate weekly meetings at
first, as a preliminary set of recommendations is requested
