First, a few words from Erv
 I am an ME, PE from UC Davis
 Design Engineer at Aerojet after school
 17 years at Intel
 7 years as a Design Engineer
 10 years managing their Rotation Engineers Program
 1 year at GLOBALFOUNDRIES
 I live on a boat
My passion is to help young adults find their
‘fit’ in life, especially in their career – by
understanding themselves better, what
makes them unique, what their passion is,
and then how that aligns, or not, in differing
companies

Who We Are: The Foundry Industry
Foundries primarily produce chips based on their customers’ or
third-party firms’ intellectual property (IP).
The foundry business model was initiated in the 80’s with Taiwan
as early adopters of the new approach.
Today, some semiconductor companies design, manufacture,
and market their chips (Integrated Circuits). Most focus on the
design and marketing and outsource their manufacturing to a
foundry
Several foundries also provide other types of services, such as
semiconductor design, photomask making, wafer probing and
semiconductor packaging and testing.
