Minutes
1. Gender Neutral bathrooms – Chabot GSA: Chabot GSA made a presentation
with a request to transform some existing bathrooms into a gender neutral
bathroom. Although current legislation does not require colleges to provide a
gender neutral bathroom (as required in elementary and secondary schools),
there is a current trend around California colleges to make them available.
GSA identified several bathrooms that could be converted and meet the
criteria they are requesting. The conversion would include a change of the
sign and appropriate lock. Members of the Health & Safety Committee
approved of the proposal. Director Puente asked for a list of the identified
bathrooms to make a better determination which bathrooms would work best
for conversion and also obtain an approximate price on the conversion.
2. Active Shooter video: Director Puente met with the Chabot TV studio and is
starting the planning of the video. Video planned to be produced by February
2016.
3. Emergency Preparedness partnership with City of Hayward: Director Puente
meeting with Hayward Fire Battallion Chief Vince Hobbes regarding a
emergency preparedness partnership with Chabot. Chabot to be used a
shelter and distribution point in times of a major emergency.
4. Update – bathroom cleanliness: bathrooms identified – Rose Uche not in
attendance to update.
5. Update - Math and Science desire Active Shooter Drill – Director Puente
scheduled with iDean Tim Dave for a February meeting.
6. Update - CERT Training: Nate Moore working on contacting HFD to schedule
training.
7. Update - NIMS/SIMS Training: Nate Moore to work with Administrators to
provide training.
8. Update - Emergency Preparedness: Nate Moore working with facilities to
identify needs
9. Update - Holiday Safety: Nate Moore researching pamphlets
10. Update – Smoking policy: No update
11.OPEN: Health Center giving out free flu shots.
Issue brought up to place building numbers inside of the buildings for easier
identification in times of an emergency. Facilities signage project is working
on it already.
