Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. read and write the mathematics used in Trigonometry with an Emphasis on its Geometric
Foundations;
2. use technology currently used in Trigonometry with an Emphasis on its Geometric Foundations;
3. solve problems on their own and with peers without having to rely on an instructor.
•
Course Content:
•
Methods of Presentation
1. Applications of principles and concepts
1. Individual instruction
2. Collaboration
3. Computer-assisted/graphing calculator instruction
•
Assignments and Methods of Evaluating Student Progress
1. Typical Assignments
A. A house that is 10 m tall is located directly across the street from an office building. The
angle of elevation of the office building from the ground is 72 degrees and from the top of
the house is 68 degrees. How tall is the office building? How wide is the street?
B. Collaborative: Give each group of students a unit circle on a rectangular grid system.
Have the students draw the graphs of y = sin x, y = cos x and y = tan x.
2. Methods of Evaluating Student Progress
A. Class Work
B. Attendance
