The campaign to get more Chabot students to apply for financial aid has been successful! In Fall 2000, 78 pct. did not apply; now only 40 pct. do not.
The percentage of Chabot students who applied for financial aid has nearly tripled in the last 14 years from 22 percent to 60 percent.
The number of applications has risen from 3,195 in Fall 2000, to 5,331 in Fall 2008, to 8,004 in Fall 2013— two and a half times as many as in 2000.
The percentage of Chabot students who were awarded financial aid has also doubled, from 20 percent or less until 2008 to 41 percent by 2012.
Even though one third of those who apply are not awarded any aid, the financial aid staff still has to process the 8,044 who apply.
