Faculties Regulations
Made by the Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University
1.
These regulations are made in accordance with the powers vested in the vicechancellor and president by Statute 2.3 - The faculties.
Part I - Faculties

There are the following faculties of the University:

Art, Design and Architecture

Arts

Business and Economics

Education

Engineering

Information Technology

Law

Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

Science

Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Part II –Sub-Faculties, schools, departments, centres and institutes of faculties

Each faculty is divided into such sub-faculties, schools, departments, centres and
institutes, as are specified in schedules 1 - 10 of these regulations.
4.
In this part 'school' means a school of a faculty and does not include a multidepartmental school established under Statute 2.3.2 - Multi-Departmental Schools.
5.
For the purposes of Statute 4.1 – Student Discipline and Statute 6.2 – Exclusion for
Unsatisfactory Progress or Inability to Progress a member of academic staff of
Federation University of Australia is a member of the teaching staff of the appropriate
faculty, or in the case of uncertainty or dispute, of the faculty designated by the vicechancellor and president, or by his or her nominee, provided that nothing in this
section has the effect of causing a member of the academic staff of Federation
University of Australia to be an employee of the University if they are not otherwise
such an employee.
6.
The members of a sub-faculty, school or department or centre or institute are:

the members of the teaching staff appointed to the sub-faculty or school or
department or centre or institute and holding the rank of lecturer or above;
and
6.2
the members of the teaching staff appointed to the sub-faculty or school or
department or centre or institute and holding full-time appointments as
assistant lecturers.
Part III - Teaching staff and student transfer
7.
Despite anything to the contrary in these regulations, a reference to a member of the
teaching staff appointed to a sub-faculty, school, department, centre or institute of a
faculty includes a reference to a member of the teaching staff appointed to a subfaculty, school, department, centre or institute of another faculty where the second
mentioned sub-faculty, school, department, centre or institute becomes a sub-faculty,
school, department, centre or institute of the first mentioned faculty.
