Lab Theatre Directing Qualifications and Priority
Student Directors must meet one of the following criteria to be
considered eligible to direct:
1. Have completed TH A 5311 at Texas Tech and received a grade of
B or better.
2. Directed a successful play elsewhere that receives a strong
recommendation from a Texas Tech Theatre faculty member.
3. Received a strong letter of recommendation from a theatre faculty
member at another institution or working professional whose
opinion is respected by a majority of departmental members.
Directing Priority:
1. Ph.D. and M.F.A. Acting/Directing student using this show as a
thesis or dissertation project and/or any qualified person wishing to
direct an original script that is part of their M.F.A. thesis or Ph.D.
dissertation.
2. Ph.D. or M.F.A. Acting/Directing student fulfilling departmental
directing requirement
3. M.A. student wishing to direct
4. Others not falling into the above categories.
