Frequently Asked Questions When is the membership good for? Our 2014-‐2015 annual memberships will be effective from August 18, 2014 – August 16, 2015. Fall Semester | August 18, 2014 – January 4, 2015 Spring Semester | January 5, 2015 – May 17, 2015 Summer Semester | May 18, 2015 – August 16, 2015 Can I pay online or over the phone? Unfortunately, our current membership system does not allow online membership purchases or renewals. New membership sales must be done in person so that we can verify who you are to give you the best value in a Rec Sports membership! Also, credit card information is not secure over the phone and we therefore do not allow sales over the phone for membership. When will my membership start? Students Enrolled In Classes -‐ Student memberships will start on University approved days for each enrolled semester. For example, fall 2014 memberships will begin on Monday, August 18, 2014. In some cases, if you enroll for classes after August 18 or the subsequent date each semester, your membership will not show in our system until the next calendar day. Spring Semester starts on January 5, 2015 Summer 1 Semester starts May 18, 2015 Summer Memberships for students not taking summer classes – Students enrolled in the upcoming fall semester but not enrolled for summer sessions are eligible to purchase summer memberships for the entire summer ($75) or for each summer session individually ($37.50). Membership will start following your payment and membership activation in the Main Office of the Rec Center, room 202. Faculty/Staff and Other Members – Your membership will start immediately following your payment and enrollment in our membership system in the Main Office of the Rec Center, room 202. Can I purchase a membership without being a Texas Tech Faculty/Staff? We have many membership types available to patrons outside of the Texas Tech Faculty/Staff area. These groups include State, Alumni, LISD and University Medical Center staff. For specific information on these membership types, please call us at 806-‐742-‐3351. We also have a membership that can be added on to a current membership. Every student, faculty/staff and SALU (State, Alumni, LISD & UMC) member may sponsor (1) one person from outside of the normal membership types. These adjunct members will have full access to the facilities, but are not permitted to play intramural sports. How can I get a membership to just the Leisure Pool/Rec Center/Aquatic Center/etc? We do not have an area specific membership that can be used for only a single area. All memberships provide access to the all open Recreational Sports facilities. Is there a family membership or discount? We currently do not have family memberships or discounts. Each family member must have his or her own membership. How many people can I sponsor in a day? Each rec center member can sponsor up to four people for a daily pass. Each of the four guests must pay the guest fee of $5 for children ages 4 – 16 and $15 for adults 17+. If I am not member, can I still use the pool? All Texas Tech students, faculty and staff with the current red and white University ID can self-‐sponsor access to the Rec Center on a daily basis if they do not have a semester or annual membership. Self-‐sponsorship is $10 daily for access to all Recreational Sports facilities. Self-‐sponsorship is not adequate to participate in intramural sports. Guests must be accompanied by a current Rec Sports member to gain access to the Leisure Pool or other Rec Sports facility. Community guests are NOT able to self-‐
sponsor. Payroll Deduction Payroll deduction is as simple as 1, 2, 3! 1 – Come to the main office to start your membership 2 – fill out the payroll deduction and pay down payment if necessary 3 – Enjoy the Rec! For detailed information on payroll deduction, please call the Main Office at 806-‐
