Minutes for Meeting of May 3, 2010
An extra meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129 to review the
large number of proposals submitted for the last scheduled meeting on April 26. Committee members
present were: Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch, Rich Rice, Anthony Qualin, Philip
Pope, and David Roach. Presenters were: Dennis Patterson, Frank Thames, David Hamilton, and Craig
Goodman (Political Science).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Political Science:
• Add PUAD 5310 Capstone Practicum in Public Administration.
• Add POLS 5395 Practicum in Survey Research.
• Add POLS 3312 Game Theory.
• Add POLS 3317 Campaigns and Elections.
• Add POLS 3318 Public Opinion.
• Add POLS 3319 Political Behavior.
2. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Political Science:
• Delete POLS 3330 Ancient and Medieval Thought.
• Delete POLS 3331 Introduction to Political Philosophy.
• Delete POLS 3332 Modern Political Theory.
• Delete POLS 3333 Contemporary Political Theory.
3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following revised
proposals from the Department of Geosciences, pending corrections and course fee forms:
• Add GPH 5303 Seismic Data Analysis.
• Add GPH 5305 Velocity Model Building.
• Add GPH 5307 Seismic Migration.
4. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following revised
proposals from the Department of Geosciences, pending course fee forms:
• Change number of GPH 5221 Advanced Seismic Exploration Methods.
• Change number and title of GPH 5223 Advanced Electrical Methods.
5. The committee voted to recommend the following proposals from the Department of Sociology,
Anthropology, & Social Work pending lab hour revisions and course fee forms:
• Change number and hours for ANTH 3410 Human Evolution.
• Change number and hours for ANTH 3411 Human Variation.
• Change number and hours for ANTH 5411 Human Evolution.
• Change number and hours for ANTH 5412 Human Variation.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP will be held in September 2010. The schedule for Fall
2010 and Spring 2011 meetings will be distributed in August 2010.
