X-ray Crystallography is a fascinating science that studies the atomic
structure of matter using X-ray diffraction. It has applications in many areas
such as Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, Materials Sciences, Physics,
Archaeology and Geology. Among others, it has helped to reveal some of the
mysteries of the structure of life with great ramifications for health care.
MC Escher: Flying Fish
This is a an introductory one-semester course and teaches students the
fundamentals of this science. Topics that will be covered include crystal
geometry and symmetry, X-ray Diffraction, Fourier syntheses, Phase problem
and Methods for Structure Determination.
For undergraduate students, this course can be used toward a Physics Minor
degree.
