Continuing FUV Focus Analysis

Modeling conducted to simulate the upcoming focus run using STIS
spectrum and raytraced PSFs
Initial focus sweep spectra continue to be analyzed for other trends
than FWHM of isolated absorption lines
Analysis of wavecal line widths on FUV detector indicate the the FUV
detector is performing as expected, achieving FWHM of about 5
pixels (30µm) over the bulk of the active area (better in the middle
than toward the edges), in agreement with testing performed at
Berkeley
The initial FUV focus adjustment resulted in an improvement of the
wavecal system line widths on the FUV detector. The wavecal system
has no aberration, and is off-axis relative to the PSA. As a result, the
wavecal focus is not a good metric of PSA spectral focus.

FUV Sensitivity (11492)
Preliminary Analysis Results
• Data for visits 71 and 12, using primary standard
LDS749B have allowed us to derive (preliminary)
independent PSA sensitivity curves for each grating and
segment
– Visit 11 (G130M, G140L) upcoming

NUV Imaging Performance Verification (11473)
Preliminary Analysis Results
• Data from visit 1 using G standard star P330E
• Preliminary result: brightest central pixel of 40-pixel (~1
arcsec) diameter measurement aperture contains 14.6 +/0.6% of light

Additional SMOV Visits Approved
• Added two new internal visits to program 11488 (Final
FUV Internal Wavecals / Internal Flat Fields)
– Visit 04: obtain template spectrum at new encoder position for
G130M 1291 FP-POS=4
– Visit LV: obtain internal flat field exposures at new, lower
HVNOM settings (identical to previous visit FF at original
HVNOM levels)
