2005 Annual Catholic Appeal
Parishioners Help Improve the Lives of Many
Our appreciation goes out to all parishioners who have made a gift to the 2005 Catholic Appeal. To date,
we have received $19,571 from 73 donors and are at 36% of our parish goal of $88,900. Within the next
few weeks, the Catholic Appeal office will mail out a pledge form to all those past Annual Catholic
Appeal donors who have not yet given in 2005. We hope you will consider a pledge at that time.
Together, through Our Faith At Work, we will meet the needs of our Catholic family. Thank you again for
your support.

R ELIGIOUS E DUCATION REGISTRATION
FOR 2005-06 will take place on June 5th after
the 10:00 AM Liturgies in the Friary Room in the

CONGRATULATIONS
to our
students and catechists and
families for their wonderful
commitment and good work for our Heifer
Project “READ TO FEED” program. Our
students raised $3622 which will go toward
Heifer Project’s many initiatives to end hunger,
especially in the tsunami ravaged and African
regions of our world. Thanks to all for this great
and important work.
FAREWELL
TO
BECKY – June 12th –
Friary Room immediately following the
Family Mass. Everyone is invited to
stop by to thank Becky for her
wonderful work and wish her well in her new
ministry.
SOCIAL MINISTRIes
Habitat for Humanity
Now we are gearing up for
Newton’s first Habitat
project which should begin in June.
In
collaboration with other faith communities in
Newton, we will work to finance and build one
of the two duplex units Habitat has planned for
the Webster Park area of West Newton (the
business community in Newton will do the
same for the other unit). St. Ignatius will work
on a number of fundraising initiatives while also
providing the “people power” builders at the
home site during the summer and into the fall
months. Please keep an eye on the bulletin and
our Social Ministries page on the parish web site
for the latest information on the project.
Tuesday Shattuck Bakers – Thanks for
your continuing support of our outreach to
Shattuck Shelter! We’d like to update our
method of contacting bakers by using email – a
saving of time, energy and resources! Please
send an email to Sr. Diane so we can begin
constructing “Tuesday Bakers” groups. If you
do not have email, please call Sr. Diane so we
can also construct “Call” lists.

ICE CREAM CLUB – It’s time
for us to add more members to the
Club! Just $80 will purchase ice
cream for 200+ Shelter guests for one
of the monthly Tuesday meals. If
you’d like to participate, just mail a
check to St. Ignatius, noting Ice Cream Club, or
call Sr. Diane at 617-552-6107. On behalf of the
guests at Shattuck Shelter Thank you!
Dear Parishioners:
We at St. Francis House would like to take a moment to express our sincere
thanks for all your help. The clothing that you donate through your parish
clothing drives helps to clothe over 150 poor and homeless guests per week
here at St. Francis House.
I wish that I could say that the problem of homelessness has an end; that clear skies are
on the horizon for all those who are poor and homeless. But it is not that easy. The
problem of homelessness is ongoing… And so is their need for clothing and other basic
items.
Today I am writing to you with information about helping our guests at St. Francis
House, not only at the time of your parish clothing drive, but how you can help
throughout the year. Below is the information you need to do just that. We hope that
you will be able to help us and give whatever you can.
If you have any questions, please call David at (617) 457-1011. Thanks for your
continued support!
