Global wind and pressure belt worksheet
Fill in the blanks on the following diagram. Descriptive terms include the following: (Use ALL that
apply. Several latitudes require two or more terms.) Subtropical High, NE Trade Winds, Subpolar Low,
ITCZ, Westerlies, Doldrums, SE Trade Winds, Equatorial Low, Polar Easterlies, Horse Latitudes, Polar
Front, South Pole, North Pole, Polar High. Draw in the surface wind belts using simple directional arrows
in the appropriate latitudinal belts. Abbreviate relative surface pressure as "H" for High and "L" for Low.
Causal mechanism can be abbreviated "Temp" for temperature induced and "Circ" for those pressure belts
caused by circulation dynamics.
