The Australian Scholarships Group (ASG) Travel Grant 1. Objectives of the scheme The ASG Travel Grants are provided to support Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates to: Develop their research work for academic publication Seek a wider audience for their work through conference presentation; and to Collaborate with relevant scholars in the field. Two ASG travel grants are awarded annually. The scheme offers one award of $4000 per semester to support the candidate’s attendance at an academic research conference to present their research or to fund travel to work with another scholar to further develop their research. 2. Eligibility Criteria Applicants who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply. All Faculty of Education HDR students, other than Monash University continuing staff members, who are currently enrolled can apply for this grant. Candidates under examination or in lapsed candidature are not eligible. One nominated article that has been accepted for publication after 31st October 2015, by a high quality academic journal or book. Documentary evidence of acceptance from the publishers/review panel needs to be submitted with the application. Also provide the comments of the reviewers, if available. Applicant must be the first author of the nominated article. Alternatively, One article accepted for presentation at a conference and refereed for publication. Documentary evidence from conference organizers of article acceptance for presentation must be provided. Applicant must be the first author of the nominated article. Candidate must present a concise and productive travel plan to utilise the grant by 30th June 2017. Candidate who has not previously received an ASG Travel Grant. This condition is placed to give all students an equal opportunity for a chance at a successful outcome. Only one nominated article is to be presented. An application with presentation of more than one article WILL NOT be processed. The candidate’s supervisor must provide a clear statement of support for the application. Round 2 applications will close on 31st October 2016. Round 1 - 2017 applications are due by 30th April 2017. 3. Selection An ASG Selection Panel convened by the Chair of the Research Degrees Committee, with 2 other members to be nominated by the Research Degrees Committee (RDC) will determine the awards. Selection will be based on: the quality of the publication and the quality of the proposed travel plan; Successful applicants will be announced by 16 May for Round one and by 16 November for Round two. 4. Conditions of the scheme The awardee must submit a report to the Research Degrees Office, Room G06, Building 6, Clayton upon his/her return from travel. A copy of this report will also be submitted to the ASG and to the Research Degrees Committee for record.
