Position Title: Facilities/Operations and Recreation Graduate Assistant
Reports to: Christopher Denison, WRS Associate Director- Facilities and Operations

Terms of Employment:
• Academic Year (with opportunity for summer hourly employment)
• Twenty hours/week
• One Year Period; a one year renewable option
Compensation: WRS is able to pay the GA stipend (is $9,204/academic year for 2012/13);
hourly summer employment is possible. Professional development opportunities may be
financially supported to some degree.

activities, educational programs and services, skill and leadership building activities and

Wellness and Recreation Services provides a wide variety of health, wellness, fitness, leisure,
and recreational programs and services directly to UNI students, faculty, staff, retirees and their

Position Description:
• Assists with managing the EMS event scheduling program
• Creates and manages the work schedules of Wellness and Recreation Center Facility
Managers
• Assists with the training and development of Wellness and Recreation Center Facility
Managers
• Participates in committee/departmental meetings for purposes of program planning
and development
• Assists with program assessment

Assists with special event set up and event management
Assists with implementation and oversight of recreational programs as needed
Completes Facility Manager shifts as needed
Provides tours of recreation and athletic facilities as needed
May assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of youth camps
Qualifications:
• B.A. degree in leisure, recreation, health or related field preferred
• Experience assisting with program planning, marketing and implementation
• Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a graduate program (e.g., Postsecondary
Education: Student Affairs; Health Promotion, Leisure/Recreation or other related field
preferred)
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00
• Possess strong interpersonal and organization skills
• Demonstrate evidence of competent writing and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly
professional and ethical manner
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (required) EMS scheduling software
(preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
