Newcomers are
Dear Parishioners,
Before we move into the fullness of summer with travels and vacations, I wanted to express my
heartfelt gratitude for all you do to make it such a joy to be pastor at St. Ignatius. Especially
this year, when my responsibilities have increased with being administrator at St. Mary of the
Angels, I am especially thankful for such a great parish staff and such dynamic and committed
parishioners. I pray that this summer may be a time of relaxation and refreshment for you.
Speaking of vacations, I will be away for a few weeks from time to time on vacation, retreat and
at the National Pastoral Musicians Conference in Chicago. Frs. Ken and JA Loftus will also be
away from time to time. We are most fortunate to have helping us during the summer a newly
ordained Jesuit from the Missouri province. Brian Christopher is a very wonderful and dynamic
young Jesuit whom I know you will enjoy. We still have Fr. Peter Ngyuen with us through
August until he leaves to begin further studies in Toronto. Fr. Luis Miguel Garcia, a Colombian
Jesuit, is caring for our Latino community and is beginning to celebrate some of the weekday
liturgies in English. What a blessing it is to have the pastoral help of these great Jesuits!
If you do happen to be away for a good part of the summer, I hope on your return you will be
delightfully surprised with the new Choir/Lecture room that is being renovated from the old
boiler room.  Parishioner Bob Hsiung, one of our talented architects, has created a very
imaginative design that is even more incredible if you are someone who knows what the old
room looked like. Along with this room, we expect to have some renovations to the church
kitchen which hasn’t had an updating since I arrived 21 years ago. 
Both of these projects are part of the Church Preservation Program that we hope to bring to a
close this September on the weekend of the 19th/20th with some celebratory events for the 60th
anniversary of the Church building. This will give those of you who have not had an
opportunity to support the CPP another chance to make your contribution to the future of this
beautiful edifice.
Speaking of support for the church, I am especially grateful to those of you who are signed on to
the Annual Pledge. Because of the consistency of donations, we do not have to have an
additional Summer Appeal to cover the shortfall while parishioners are away during the
summer months. If you are still not signed on, I ask you again to think about how easy, practical
and helpful this way of giving can be.
I do hope and pray that this summer time will be filled with grace and blessings for all of you.
Sincerely
Father Bob
FAITH FORMATION
REGISTRATION FOR 2009 – 2010
St. Ignatius Faith Formation has begun the registration process for the 2009 – 2010 academic year and will continue
throughout the summer. As usual, the earlier you register, the easier it is for our office. Because we are grateful
when you register early, we will ask for a “pre-registration” donation of $200 per family. After September 20, our
registration fee will be $250 per family.
How to register:
Via Email
An electronic copy of our registration form will be sent out starting June 4. You can return it via email –
please be sure to sign the bottom in acknowledgement of the policies listed on the reverse side of
the form. If you choose this method, please submit a check to the rectory at your earliest
convenience.
Via the web
Our registration form will be posted online beginning June 4. You can download the form there and
return it via email or via traditional post. Again, please do sign the form to acknowledge that you
are aware of the policies on the reverse side.
Via Traditional
Completed registration forms can be mailed to: Amy Chapman, St. Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth
Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
Register in Person
Call or email for an appointment to come to the rectory anytime Jerry or I are in the office (usually every
day of the week except Saturday) and we will help you with the paperwork. You can also pick up
a registration form and mail it back to us, or you can drop off a completed registration form in my
mailbox.
Donations
We are very grateful for the donations that are given to our parish for our Faith Formation program.
While we operate on a largely volunteer basis, textbooks, supplies, retreats, and sacramental
preparation materials add up. Your donations are the key to helping our program maintain its
high standards. If you return your registration form in person or through the post, we welcome
donations along with your registration form. If you return your form electronically, you can
submit a check to the rectory in person or through the mail; either way please mark it to Amy
Chapman’s attention. If you wish, your Faith Formation donation can be drawn from your Pledge for the
Greater Glory account. In order for us to do this, you must notify us in writing (email is sufficient).
