WITH OPEN ARMS
“COME AND JOURNEY WITH US”
On Monday evening, September 27th at 7:15 pm in the Friary Room, we will continue our
eight week program on the essentials of the Catholic Faith. The topic this week will be:

An updating for practicing Catholics
This program leads into RCIA for those wishing to become Catholics and Confirmation for
those who are Baptized and have received Eucharist
WANT MORE INSIGHT INTO THE READINGS YOU HEAR AT MASS?
Join us for Pasta and Prayer, a prayerful conversation with friends over dinner to discuss the
Sunday scriptures. Feed your body, mind and soul! The next session, Contradictions and
Conundrums, discussing the Advent Season readings will take place on Thursday, October
21st in the Friary Room from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Prior registration is required. Call Catherine at
617-782-5812 or email to cfdesq@hotmail.com.
DIA DE MUERTOS EN SAN IGNACIO! - DAY OF THE DEAD AT ST. IGNATIUS!
Join us on Sunday, October 31st after the Noon Mass to celebrate one of the most significant days of
Hispanic culture - The Day of the Dead. This tradition, which is celebrated throughout the Hispanic
world on November 2nd , dates back from centuries before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, and
consists of paying respect to the ancestors and those departed in a very religious and prayerful way. All
visible signs during the feast (flowers, candles, music and food) celebrate the life and the heritage of those
who helped us to become who we are. Following the traditions, our Hispanic community will build an
Altar de Muertos and will include a procession of people dressed in their traditional clothing outside the
church, if the weather allows. We hope you can join us in this enriching cultural event.
PROJECT RACHEL FALL 2010 - Do You Know Someone who is carrying sorrow over past abortion? Project
Rachel is the post-abortion ministry of the Church to help those dealing with the pain of abortion. This fall Project

more information and registration, please call Project Rachel at 508-651-3100, or contact
help@projectrachelboston.com. All contacts and inquiries are confidential.
PREPARING FOR A CHILD’S BAPTISM: The Baptismal Preparation session at St.
Ignatius, for parents of a first-born or parents who have never attended a Prep
program, takes place once a month. We ask parents who need to attend the required
session to make arrangements to participate in the Prep session prior to the birth of
their child. For more information and to register for a session, please contact Sr. Diane
at 617-552-6107.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES
MOTHER CAROLINE ACADEMY NEEDS KNITTING NEEDLES!! We received an email
from a co-principal at Mother Caroline, asking if any of our parishioners might have any
knitting or crochet materials that they might be willing to donate to the school. Knitting
needles are at the top
of the list, as they are teaching the students to knit and many of them do not have their
own needles. If you can help out with this need, just bring the materials to the Rectory.
Thanks!

to the ends of the earth. The study began Wednesday, October 6th at 7:15 pm in the Lannon Chapel. The
cost is $20.00, which includes a commentary, study guide and DVD presentation of the study. New
members are always welcome.
