Queensborough Community College Student Activities Committee Meeting Minutes May 6, 2005 The meeting began at 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union Lower Level. In attendance were: faculty members Beth Counihan, Howard Sporn , Heather Dougherty, and Ramon Perez; Student Activities Director Gisela Rivera; Associate Dean of Student Affairs Paul Jean­Pierre The committee discussed: Old Business: 1) Update on the formation of the Committee on Student Achievements and Competitions a. the final draft of the Bylaws description of proposed Committee was discussed b. Beth Counihan will make final revision of draft c. Recommendation made to present Bylaws to the Bylaws Committee New Business: 1) Annual Report for Student Activities Committee 2004­2005 distributed and reviewed 2) Report on Student Activities a. Student government elections: 919 votes cast: an increase from last year. Full board of positions have been filled. b. Year End Annual Hoopla – YEAH! Held May 4 th well attended by an estimated 300 students. Music Society performed. c. Gisela presented the Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities for committee review and feedback before it goes to the Academic Senate. Committee members offered suggestions and recommendations for revision Actions taken: 1) Minutes for Friday, April 1 st meeting approved 2) Motion to accept Final Draft of Bylaws approved 3) Motion to present Bylaws for the Committee on Student Achievements and Competitions to the Bylaws Committee approved 4) Motion to recommend a new Committee on Student Achievements and Competitions to the Academic Senate approved The meeting closed at 2:00 p.m Respectfully submitted, Heather Dougherty Secretary of Student Activities Committee
