NOTE: These problems will help you prepare for the upcoming midterm.
1. Is the triangle with sides 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 a right triangle? If not, make as many
right triangles as you can that have two sides that are the same length as two
sides of this given triangle.
2. If you have the Pythagorean triple (3,4,5), explain how you would generate 5
other Pythagorean triples starting with this one.
3. Suppose that you have two positive integers m and n with m < n. Show that
(n2 − m2 , 2mn, n2 + m2 ) is a Pythagorean triple. Generate all the examples that
exist with 0 < n < 4.
4. Do Problem 15 in section 4.1 of Burger and Starbird.
