with complete arguments and justifications. You will be graded on the correctness, clarity and elegance of
your solutions. Your answers must be typeset or very neatly written. They must be stapled, with your name
and student number at the top of each page.
1. Sketch and find the equation of the line parallel to 2y + x − 3 = 0 which passes through the point (2, 3).
2. Prove that the largest rectangle which can be inscribed inside a circle of radius r is a square. (It is possible
to prove this using only basic geometry.) Then find the area of the square.
