Graduate Assistant 2016 – 2017
Dates of Employment: August 15, 2016 – May, 2017.
Education Required: Currently or will be pursuing a masters degree in higher education and/or student affairs
administration, education, counseling or related field concurrently while in the position.
Experience Desired: Undergraduate student leadership, judicial board member, student government,
orientation, residence life, community service, or related experiences.
Description of Position/Duties: Assists the Associate Dean of Students with daily operations as it relates to
student discipline, student absences, and students of concern.
Job Status/Compensation: Part Time, 15 – 20 Hours/Week, $13.50 an hour
General Responsibilities:
Provides primary support to the Associate Dean of Students in administration of the student conduct system,
any disciplinary publications and policies, coordination of assessment of conduct work, and serves as a hearing
officer.
 Learns and assists in utilizing the conduct database, Advocate, in processing all disciplinary cases.
 Oversees the tracking of disciplinary cases.
 Oversees and tracks students not in compliance with sanctions.
 Assists in the training of hearing officers.
 Compiles monthly conduct report for Provost and President.
 Assists Associate Dean with annual conduct report for Provost and President.
 Adjudicates minor level cases.
 Helps to assess and evaluate the MCPHS disciplinary process and the code of conduct.
 Assists in reviewing and editing the Student Handbook.
 Assists in the campus wide excused absences process.
 Assists with the campus wide study space efforts.
 Demonstrates teamwork, leadership, and professionalism while working with and among the student
affairs staff.
 Is available, visible, and approachable to students within the college community through weekly office
hours, helps prepare for and attends bi-weekly Code of Conduct meetings, and weekly one-on-one
meetings.
 Other duties as assigned by Associate Dean of Students.
