Topics will include:
The Riemann or Riemann-Stieltjes integrals. Sequences and series of functions,
uniform convergence. Approximation of continuous functions by polynomials.
Fourier series. Functions from Rm to Rn , inverse and implicit function theorems.

Prerequisite:
Math 320
Evaluation skim:
• Homework assignments 20%
• Midterm: 30%
• Final 50%
*There will be homework collected most Fridays. Late homework will
not be accepted. The lowest homework grade will be dropped.
**There will be a midterm exam on Friday, March 5 in class. The midterm
and final exams will be closed book. No formula sheets or calculators will be
allowed.
***If you miss the midterm exam, the grading scheme will be adjusted so
that the final exam is worth more, if you have a medical emergency and present
a doctor’s note to me, or if you have had my prior consent. Otherwise, you will
get 0 as your midterm grade.

Schedule
The second term starts on Monday January 4 and end on Thursday April 15.
• Monday, January 4, 2010: Class begin.
• January 18, 2010: Last day to withdraw without a W standing : January
18, 2010
• February 12, 2010: Last day to withdraw with a W standing (course
cannot be dropped after this date) .
• the midterm break: Feb. 15 – 26 inclusive. No class.
• Friday, 5 March 2010. Midterm exam in class.
• Friday, 2 April 2010
Good Friday. No class. University closed.
• Monday, 5 April 2010
Easter Monday. No class. University closed.
• Wednesday, 14 April 2010: Last day of class.
• TBA: Final Exam. Term 2 examinations period: April 19 to May 1 inclusive. Saturdays are included in the examination schedule.
The Olympics/Paralympics and academic obligations.
Students who choose to volunteer for the games are not exempted from their
normal academic obligations.
