Students’ achieved nearly 80% (77.6%) competency at the end of the semester in selected areas of health related biological and physiological processes and health promotion and disease prevention practices. 88% of students achieved level 3 or higher and 52% achieved level 4 or higher, on the rubric assessing students’ ability to write descriptive analyses. Areas included: awareness of important health issues, 84% (63%, 4 or higher), ability to make informed health decisions, 86%, (41%, 4 or higher) and application of knowledge and skills, 94% (52%, 4 or higher). 96.6% of students agreed or strongly agreed on the importance of health awareness; 97.3% agreed or strongly agreed that their health awareness increased from taking this course; selfreported health decision capabilities increased over 10% from 85.1 to 96; and self-reported application of knowledge and skills increased 35% from 59.7 to 95. 1 Evaluation The results of the course assessment suggest that the use of the electronic SurveyMonkey pretest and posttest for HE 102 is an effective method to assess student learning and academic performance across multiple course sections. Resulting Action Plan HE 102 will continue to assess general education objectives 1 and 2 for the Fall 2013 semester.
