School Year
During the 2008/2009 school year, 249 West Virginia Certified School Nurses collaborated with
parents/guardians, communities and school personnel to assist in prevention, health maintenance, education
and the health screening of 280,413 students in 702 public schools in West Virginia.
Currently West Virginia public schools provide physician ordered care for the number of students with the
following medical/health conditions to ensure their health and educational achievement during the school day.
