INSITE & VIISA
. . . is a home-based program for the
families of visually impaired and visually
impaired-multihandicapped infants and
young children between the ages of birth
and five years (with special emphasis
on birth to three years) residing within
the State of West Virginia. This service
is provided by the West Virginia Schools
for the Deaf and the Blind.
Rationale
Young children having
impairments, such as visual
loss, hearing loss, brain
injury, or some combination
thereof, are at risk for significant developmental delays. The treatment can be
complex and the necessary
services can be difficult to
find and coordinate.
The goal of West Virginia
INSITE/VIISA is to identify
these children at an early
age and provide a complete
home/community program
that will facilitate development.
