Dressing for Success

*ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS DRESSING FOR SUCCESS*

The individual school’s administration/designees shall be the final judge of wearing apparel/accessories. They will determine whether or not such is appropriate, disruptive, offensive, distracting or in violation of health and safety rules. No clothing/accessories are permitted that promote drugs, tobacco, alcohol or violence. School spirit shirts may be worn on designated days.

If not listed below, the student is out of dress code. All students may wear: o Any collared shirt or blouse with sleeves (brand names on clothing only if it is discreet). o Solid color pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers (must be past finger tip length). Also, no athletic shorts, spandex, tight fitting apparel, sweat suits). o Shirts must be tucked in at the waist. o Belts must be worn, if there are belt loops o Shoes must be closed toe with back straps and not have wheels. o No hooded sweatshirts or hats. o Sweaters, sweatshirts or jackets (graphics may be no larger than pocket-sized) in solid colors only. o Dress lengths must be no shorter than just above the knee and must have sleeves.

*MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS DRESSING FOR SUCCESS*

The individual school’s administration/designee shall be the final judge of wearing apparel/accessories. They will determine whether or not such is appropriate, disruptive, offensive, distracting or in violation of health and safety rules. No clothing/accessories are permitted that promote drugs, tobacco, alcohol or violence. School spirit shirts may be worn on designated days.

If not listed below, the student is out of dress code. All students may wear: o Jeans, shorts, capris or pants must be worn at the waist and belted. Solid denim without any graphics/embellishments or frayed, cut, damaged/destroyed. o Belts must be worn in pants/skirts loops at all times and be visible). Belt buckles smaller than 2 inches o Dresses, skirts and shorts must extend beyond the fingertips. Dresses must have sleeves. o Collared Shirts/Blouses. No visible camisoles, t-shirts underneath and must be tucked in. o Jackets/sweatshirts – graphics may be no larger than pocketsized. o Shoes/tennis shoes with a back or back strap (all straps/laces must be properly fastened) o Jewelry (less than ½ inch in size). Pierced ears are permitted: earrings should be no longer than 2 inches below the ear. Plain or charm style necklaces. o No visible display of underwear.

*HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DRESSING FOR SUCCESS*

They will determine whether or not such is appropriate, disruptive, offensive, distracting or in violation of health and safety rules. No clothing/accessories are permitted that promote drugs, tobacco, alcohol or violence. School spirit shirts may be worn on designated days.

If not listed below, the student is out of dress code. All students may wear: o Collared shirts/blouses with sleeves, must be tucked-in, and not see through o Shirts/blouses/dresses must have necklines that do not reveal cleavage and must have sleeves o Belts must be worn in pants/skirt loops at all times and be visible o School sponsored clothes on designated days (club shirts, scrubs, academy shirts, athletic shirts, and honor roll shirts) o Pants must be worn above the hip-bone and must not be frayed, torn, cut, or have chains o Dresses/Shorts/skirts or skirt slits must be knee length o No visible display of underwear o No jewelry that creates a safety concern o Dress shoes, tennis shoes, sandals, boots (not beach shoes or slippers) o Jackets/sweatshirts - graphics may be no larger than pocket sized.

Now that you have received a school assignment, please take the following records to the school and enroll your student.

ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE

(kindergarten, first graders, and students new to the district only)

Immunization record

(must be placed on HRS form 680 by a doctor or the health department)

Physical exam form

(completed within past year)

Proof of address – within 30 days

ACCEPTED:

Current utility bill,

(water, electric, or telephone bill with name and address showing ),

Official rent receipt,

Signed lease agreement,

Closing papers for a home purchase,

Construction contracts (signed and dated),

Mortgage Payment Coupon.

Any records or report cards from previous school, including IEP records.
