In little more than fifteen weeks I’ll be ready to take a turn at “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” As long
as all the questions are related to World Geography, that is..
Had my first class yesterday and it looks like this class is gonna be a doozy (I don’t get to use that word
very often). Here’s a brief synopsis of what will be required:
Regular reading of the text -Workbook
-Summation-Critiques
Exams
Scrapbook

about 40 pages a week, which isn’t too bad.
about 10 pages a week of geographical exercises
two over the length of the course
five over the length of the course
current articles, maps, photos, etc., of a country of my choice. A minimum
Of 12 to 15 articles no older than 4/1/00. Due by the end of the term.
The scrapbook part should be an interesting “little” task. Just trying to zero in on one country of interest
will be a challenge. I’m thinking South America, like Argentina or Brazil. However, France could be good
because of the Notorious French Dudes I am acquainted with. Then there is Belgium, which sounds like an
interesting place for no other reason than I like those waffles. I could do Vietnam, because I do have a little
knowledge of that place. Then, there’s always the Netherlands with its Amsterdam and all those Dutch
people. I doubt there’d be much shortage of information about that country given my present locale.
If anybody reading this has any other suggestions, they would be welcome to share them…..
Last night was “Let’s Go Find A Dress Night” for The Sandstress (of course she puts the cuff in my link).
I tagged along for two reasons. First, she wanted me to, and second, well, the first is reason enough.
We went to several stores and I was personally amazed at the crap women have to choose from when
buying anything other than blue jeans. Finally, though, she found this long, little black number that looked
really nice on her. And, with a little luck, she should be able to “accessorize” it for way less than a typical
mortgage payment.
I’m just kidding. One thing about The Sandstress, she is loath to spend more for clothes than is absolutely
necessary to get the look she is comfortable with.
After two-and-a-half hours of shopping, we felt a sense of accomplishment, so stopped at the new Chili’s
restaurant for a burger and a beer. Although it had been opened since late Spring, this was my first
experience with this particular chain. Because of the lack of reputable eateries in the immediate area, this
place had been virtually overrun since they opened. But, given it was eight-thirty on a Tuesday night, we
were able to get in without a wait.
For those unfamiliar with Chili’s, it is your basic themed neighborhood bar-slash-grill, sort of like an
Applebee’s or a TGI Friday’s kind of place. Chili’s features a southwest motif with lots of cactus and clay
stuff. The food is decent, prices fair and service good.
Here’s a tip. Try their Southwest Egg Rolls. Pleasantly spicy and quite unlike anything we’d had before as
an appetizer. We’ll probably go back the next time we are out on a Tuesday night and shopping for
going-to-the-chapel kind of clothes.
Which could be next Spring, if Mona and Scott are still on track….But, three more days until Vicki and
Paul are Mr. And Mrs. Larson….
