Introduction Speech (20 points)
Overview of Assignment: This is a low-risk assignment that will allow me to
assess your public speaking skills. The assignment will be building on what you
have learned about Public Speaking in Discourse 100 and Discourse 200.
You will be Introducing yourself to the class with a brief (3-4 minute) speech about
your past community involvement. This speech could include a variety of topics,
such as



Volunteer work
o Serving meals at a shelter
o Building homes for Habitat for Humanity
Participation in community events
o Community theater
o Volunteering at a community festival
Participation in charity events
o Running a 5K that benefits a charity.
o Participating in a charity walk
Of course, these are just a few of the possible topics you could discuss in your
