wereaskedifcommitteesshouldbecontinuedordissolved.

o CNHPdevelopedanonboardingprogramthey’vebeenusing.CNHPis
willingtosharewithothercolleges.Mostcollegesdonothaveformal
onboardingtraining;onlyBlackboardtrainingisavailableformostfaculty.
o SOEhasanonboardingcoursepreviouslydevelopedbySoEfacultyand
DUO’sLearningTechnologyGroup.Thecourseneedstoberefreshed.
SOEwillchampionthefacultyonboardinitiativewiththehelpofcompensatory
resourcesasakeypriorityforthisyear.

Concernswereraisedaboutfacultybeingoverextendedoncommitteesifacollegeis
representedoneverycommittee.
Forsmallschools,likeSchoolofEducation,howcantheyhaverepresentationon
eachofthecommittees?
o GreatertransparencyofOLCwouldmeanschoolswouldnotneedtohavea
representativeoneachcommittee,onlycommitteeswherethereisstrongest
interest.Eachcommitteeisexpectedtoworkonassignedpriority
initiatives.
TheInspirewebsite(Drexel.edu/Inspire)willhouseallcommitteeminutes
andprofessionaldevelopmentrecordings.
IsthereabetterorganizationalstructureofOLCCommittees?
o ShouldExecutiveSteeringCommitteeissueproblemstatementsandthen
havetime-limitedtaskforcessolveit?Onceproblemissolvedthentaskforce
isdisbanded?
o Shouldsomeofthecommitteeissuesbedistributedtopre-existing
universitydepartmentstosolve?TheOLCwasestablishedasaresultofa
needtofocusontheunique,specializedneedsofonlinestudents,faculty
teachingonlinestudentsandonlinesupportforbothfacultyandstudents.
Existingcommitteesattheuniversityhaven’taddressedonlinestudentor
facultyneeds.On-campusstudentshaveverydifferentneedsthana38year
oldstudentlivinginCaliforniatakingonlinecourses.Onlinestudentshave
beeninvisibleinthepast.TheOLCandDUOarecreatingthevisibility
requiredtoimpactretentionandrecruitment.
o EachCommitteeshouldreceiveaprioritizedlistofareastoaddress.
o Fortime-limitedactions,atiger-teamapproachwassuggested.
TheOLCCommitteesuggestionscameoutofrecommendationsfromfacultyand
previousOLCmemberswhofeltstronglyabouttheneedtohavestandalone
committeestoaddressonlinelearningissues.
o Specificcommitteesthathaveuniquechallengesshouldremainintact:
accessibility(forMiddleStatesandADAstandards),studentengagement
(onlinestudentneedsarequitedistinctfromon-campusstudents),
emergingtechnologies,andprofessionaldevelopment.
o TheFacultySenatewillappointtwomemberstoeachCommittee.
o KarynHoltdescribedtheimportanceoftheTAGGCommittee.Facultywho
teachfromadistancearenotabletoparticipateinFacultySenatemeetings,
committeesandinitiativesoncampus.TheTAGGCommitteewas
establishedtofocusattentionontheneedsofthefacultyandimprove
access.SusanAldridgewillmeetwithJanetFleetwoodtoinitiatethe
dialogueforTAGG.

OLCFellowshaveaone-yearterm,whichwillexpireinJune.
Currentlydiscussionsareunderwaytodeterminetheactivitiesandselection
processforthe2016-2017terms.
