Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides
Steps For Solving A MultiStep Equation
1. Use the distributive property to remove parentheses on each side
2. Combine liketerms on each side
3. Make sure there are only variables on one side.

When we talk about equation solving, we say an equation has NO SOLUTION when it is never true. 6x 5 = 7x + 7 x

Solve each equation. Label if it is an identity or has no solution.
1. 6x + 1 = 6x8
2. y 5 = (5y)
3. 9x + 3x 10 = 3(3x + x)
4. 6x = 4(x + 5)
