Biology

766 majors in Fall 2009, an increase of over 33% since Fall 2004 (UNI increase was 2%)

7 of 10 Biology majors go on to graduate or professional schools

Chemistry and Biochemistry

131 majors in Fall 2009, an increase of 20% from a year ago (UNI grew by a little over 1%)

For the past several years, it has graduated more bachelor chemists than any other institution in the state

Computer Science

207 undergraduate majors in

Fall 2009, an increase of 57% from 3 years ago (UNI grew by 5.5%)

Undergraduates in the department have received awards in programming and cyber defense competitions for the last 2 years.

Earth Science

75 undergraduate majors in

27% from last year

In conjunction with a local industry, Earth Science hosted an outreach event,

Sunday at the Quarry, for over 1500 participants this

Industrial Technology

36 graduate majors enrolled in Fall 2009, more than doubling last fall’s enrollment

The Solar Boat team finished

1 st in the world for solar power system design

The Robotics team finished

2 nd in the nation in performance

Mathematics

300 majors in Fall 2009, an increase of 56% from three years ago

Two NSF-supported interinstitutional programs support the inclusion of underrepresented minorities in graduate programs in mathematics

Physics
