Dr Ruth May is NHS England Regional Director of Nursing for Midlands and East. Her previous roles
include Chief Nurse for NHS Midlands and East and Chief Nurse for NHS East of England. Ruth has
a theatre nursing background and more than 20 years experience of working in the NHS.

Jackie is a trustee for Rethink Mental Illness and was previously a lay panel member for two CCGs.
Jackie chairs the Berkshire Mental Health User Group and is part of West Berks Independent Living

Howard Naylor is an independent organisational development consultant with many years'
experience of working with the NHS. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and
Development and has a particular interest in ensuring excellent HR management. Having survived a
cancer diagnosis in 2007, Howard also works with a local north-west based group developing ways
to improve the patients' experience of living with and beyond cancer.

(NCRN) Clinical Studies Group for Bladder Cancer and the Consumer Liaison Group. She is also a
PPI member of Yorkshire Cancer Network User Partnership Executive Group and sits on the
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Gynaecological Oncology MDT Strategy Group.
Other groups include cardiac research, diabetes care, sleep apnoea and her GP PPI group. She has
experience as a patient and carer.

remains committed to improving the experience for patients, carers and relatives.
