Abstract: Results of a decay width calculation for an exotic hybrid(h) meson(J P C =
1−+ ) are presented for the channel h → π + a1 . This quenched simulation employs Lùˆscher’s finite box method. Operators representing the h and πa1 states
were used at various levels of smearing. Eigenvalues of the corresponding correlation matrix were used to determine scattering phase shifts for a discrete set
of relative πa1 momenta. Although the number of phase shift data points is
sparse, an extrapolation to zero pion mass was attempted, resulting in a decay
width of about 200 MeV.
