DAVIS-VEASEY AND LULAC PLAINTIFFS’
JOINT ADVISORY TO THE COURT
The Texas Legislature has now repealed all three of its statewide redistricting plans enacted in
2011 (Senate, House and Congress) and has enacted three new redistricting plans to replace them. The
Governor has now signed all three plans. This Advisory only relates to the recently-enacted Senate map.
The recently-enacted Senate map is identical in all respects to the interim map ordered into effect
by this Court in 2012. That plan, the Court will recall, restored Senate District 10 to its original
configuration as it existed before the 2011 round of redistricting.
Both Plaintiffs and Defendants in this case have advised the Court in previous filings that
the now, legislatively-adopted interim plan for the Texas Senate may serve as the final remedial
plan in this case. All that remains is the resolution of Plaintiffs’ claims for attorneys’ fees,
expenses and costs. The parties have informally agreed on a schedule to resolve those claims.
Plaintiffs’ counsel will meet with Defendants’ counsel promptly in an effort to reduce that

informal agreement to writing in the form of a proposed order setting forth a schedule for
resolving the remaining attorneys’ fees and expenses claims. If no agreement can be reached,
each each party will submit a proposed schedule.
Respectfully submitted,
