Interjections

A Disclaimer: I recognise this will probably be boring. I would have made it interesting if I thought we had similar ideas of interesting. But we don’t. Besides, trying to make grammar interesting is like trying to get a toaster to smell a flower. There’s really no point in trying. So if I can’t make it interesting, I’ll try to keep it short.

Interjection: An interjection is a word added to a sentence usually to express emotion. It is not often used in formal speech. It is usually separated from the rest of the sentence by a comma, question mark or exclamation mark. Profanity is most commonly an interjection depending on it’s usage.

The bold words in the following sentences are interjections:

Aww , how come Chloe gets a pet amoeba?

Good Lord ! What abominable treachery!

Ew ! It’s on my face!

Nice car, eh ?

Underline the interjections in the following sentences:

1. Yuck! You smell like a whale that’s been pulled out of the water and left in the hot sun for a month! Take a shower! Geez!

2. Rats! I lost the game. (Haha, you lose game!)

3. Gosh darn it! That hurt!

Write a sentence with an interjection in it:
