UW Stout Advisory Boards
Offer high quality, challenging academic programs that
influence and respond to a changing society and workplace.
UW-Stout’s challenge is to keep its programs continually
renewed and refreshed.
Strong stakeholder input, through program specific Advisory
Boards. They are used keep current on changing
requirements.
Key indicators of program success include:
(1) curriculum development and renewal
(2) course work is meeting the needs of the
present and future labor market
(3) increased level of academic challenge
(4) student employment in field of study (97%)

UW Stout Advisory Boards
Experience with the MS OSM program 2010 - present
Needed to update and accredit the MS program in the College of
Management.
Program titled MS Technology Management was leading to
market confusion.
The program developed in 1970 was in need up an update.
Educated Advisory Board on the requirements of ACBSP
accreditation
Used the Advisory Board’s expertise and COM’s strengths to
redeveloped the MS program to meet current and future needs.

Results with the MS OSM program
The Advisory Board worked to develop a program title that met the
expectations of industry, Operations and Supply Management
Revised the program to add relevance
Lean Tools and Techniques
Project Management
Finance
Risk Management
Advanced Quality Management
Addressed the ACBSP Common Professional Components
Advisory Board has developed ownership to the University, College
and Program. Their input is much more than two meetings per year.
They promote program and look to hire graduates.
Since the change in 2010, the program has grown and improved
