Native Seed Collection—Olympic and
Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forests
FY 2007 Accomplishments
BACKGROUND: The Mt Baker-Snoqualmie
and Olympic National Forests in western
Washington State are developing sources of
local native plant species to use for
revegetation, restoration, and elk forage
enhancement projects.
PROPOSAL: The two Forests collaborated to
develop a single contract for native seed
collection in multiple watersheds on the
forests over two years. A minimum of 115 lb
of seed will be collected. The seed will be
used for propagation and as foundation seed
for seed increase.
FUNDED OUTPUTS: The contractor
collected 64 lb of seed from the Humptulips
and Quinault watersheds on the Olympic
National Forest in 2007. In 2008 they will
collect seed on the Upper Sauk and Upper
and Lower White River watersheds on the Mt
Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
