MULTIPLE USE COORDINATION
7706 - MULTIPLE USE COORDINATION. To avoid confusion in the use of color flagging by
all functions, the following "Uniform Color Coding System" will be used for administration,
engineering, and other project work on the Santa Fe National Forest.
1. Colors for District Use
a. Red
Property lines and corners.
Plant control boundaries and clearing limits
for fence r/w.
Temporary spurs, skid trails, landings
(flag boundaries).
Slash disposal areas and aerosion
control.
b. Blue
c. Yellow
d. Blue and yellow
e. White
f. Black and white or Blue and White
g. Orange
"Group" cutting boundaries.
Cultural resource and miscellaneous
administration.
h. Red and white stripe
Preliminary road location.
Temporary access (for fires, range projects,
engineering, etc.).
i. Florescent red
Fire activities.
2. Colors for Engineering Use
b. Orange (on stakes)
Engineering road, trail, waterlines
reconnaissance only.
P-Line, L-Line, L-Line reference stakes and
TBM's.
c. Red (on stakes)
Slope stakes and reference stakes.
d. White (on lath or wire)
Clearing limits.
e. Blue (on stakes)
Culvert or drainage stakes.
f. Blue and white strips (on stakes)
R/W traverse ties.
g. Purple
Communications.
