Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Gift Officer will join a dynamic, growing Major Gifts team at Alverno that is working together
to dramatically impact the College through increasing the Major and Planned Gifts programs. The
Senior Gift Officer will manage a portfolio of 100-150 alumni and community leaders who are major gift
donors and prospects. This portfolio will be made up primarily of individuals, but will also include some
corporations and foundations. The successful candidate will cultivate and solicit donors to meet annual
fundraising goals; ensure effective ongoing communication of Alverno mission, goals and
achievements to identified prospects; and work with college leadership to identify funding needs.
Qualifications
A minimum of five years experience in fundraising is required, with demonstrated success in
cultivating and soliciting high-level prospects and donors for major gift commitments. Experience in
higher education setting preferred. Demonstrated success in customer/client relations, sales,
volunteer management, events management or devising cultivation and solicitation strategies is a
plus. In addition, the successful candidate will have:

Proven ability to interact with high-level professionals, to keep information confidential, and to
represent the College appropriately is required.

Friendly and enthusiastic attitude. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have the
ability to communicate and respond to both internal and external customers professionally and in
a timely manner. Must have the ability to read, interpret, write and complete documents such
as reports, newsletters and general correspondence.

Self-motivated and goal driven. Strong organizational skills with proven capacity to handle
multiple priorities and deadlines.

Proven track record of meeting revenue/performance goals.

Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with fundraising
database systems desired.

Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the qualifications of an Alverno driver.

Requires the willingness and ability to occasionally travel outside of the Milwaukee area and
attend evening and weekend activities.

Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
