Energy Conservation and Sustainability Working Group
Charge:
The Energy Conservation and sustainability WG (ECS) is charged with leading
the University Library's efforts at achieving a more energy efficient and
environmentally sustainable workplace. Through a combination of
collaboration, direct action, and advocacy, the ECS seeks to identify and
promote policies and practices that will help minimize the Library's
environmental impact, reduce energy consumption, and promote a more
sustainable library. Outcomes may include:








Increased use of energy efficient, refillable, reusable, recycled,
and recyclable supplies and equipment
Reduced use of plastics
Reduced paper consumption
Decreased resource consumption
Increased level of recycling
Promoting and achieving more energy efficient meetings, travel, and
personal transportation
Advocacy for more sustainable practices among our users
Increased collaboration with campus and university bodies promoting
conservation and sustainability
